Texting And Driving: A Bad Mix And An Ongoing Problem.

The push against text messaging behind the wheel is gathering steam: Maine has recently become the 33rd state, along with D.C and Guam, to ban texting on the road. (http://www.automotiveit.com/maine-is-33rd-u-s-state-to-ban-texting-in-cars/news/id-003007)

With cell phone usage being responsible for 28 per cent of accidents on US roads, this comes as no surprise. Text messaging has caused 200 000 of these and has taken an estimated 16 000 lives.

Bedford County, Tennessee, recently experienced power outage to thousands of residents after driver Cara Countzler snapped a utility pole in a crash caused by her text messaging on the road. (http://www.newschannel5.com/story/14830345/woman-arrested-for-dui-texting-while-driving-after-crash)
